Making a Twinwall insulated chimney
In a situation where there is no existing chimney, Twinwall insulated
flue allows you to easily create a new chimney. The Twinwall insulated
flue can safely pass through existing floors and through the roof.
A comprehensive range of flashings will keep the weather out.
Design services
I usually ask customers for the necessary measurements and then
design the whole flue system. Any parts that are not used (as
long as they are not damaged or marked) can be returned for a
refund (minus a handling charge). Design visits attract a small
fee that is deducted from the purchase price of the chimney when
it is ordered.
Measurements
needed
Below are simple diagrams showing the measurements normally needed,
but each chimney installation is different, so be prepared for
questions. It would be helpful if you include the information
below in any email - or have them to hand if telephoning for advice.
For an internal chimney I need the following measurements:
A - Total height from hearth to flue exit point in the roof
B - Height from ground to 1st floor joists
C - Height of loft ceiling joists
D - Pitch of the roof (approximately) to determine the type of
flashing
E - The horizontal distance to the ridge of the flue exit point
in the roof
I also need to know
-
the materials of the walls (e.g. , brick-work,
block-work, shiplap, plasterboard, etc)
-
the materials of the roof (e.g. batten and slate
tiles, plywood and concrete tiles)
-
the make and model of stove to be connected
to the chimney
-
the stove flue exit point - rear or top - that
you will be using.
For installations with the flue through a wall and then
up the outside

I need to know:
A - Total height of the wall where the flue will run
B - The height at which you wish the flue to start going through
your wall
-
I also need to know the materials of
-
the walls the materials of the roof
-
the gutter and soffit overhang and materials
-
the make and model of stove to be connected
to the chimney
-
the stove flue exit point - rear or top - that
you will be using.
